Finally, all of the preliminary work has been completed for the installation of your new standby generator and you have finished Coordinating Gas and Electric Utilities.  We are now at the 5th and final step of the installation process of your permanently connected appliance: final inspection and a startup-test.

At the conclusion of the electrical connection, the generator should be started, and all components tested and verified for proper operation. And although your specialist will advise you on the availability of the electrical inspector, most inspection departments require direct contact with the homeowner in scheduling specific appointments.

That means you may find that your inspector requests additional work to be performed. These requests are not uncommon and are part of the process of ensuring that your generator meets all code requirements and will operate safely. If your inspector requires additional work, your installation contractor will make any necessary schedule changes to complete the process.
