Habitat for Humanity gets free generators every week, donated by Canter Power Systems

Greensboro-based company is the #1 home standby generator installer in the U.S.

GREENSBORO, NC, February 27, 2018 – For three years running, Canter Power Systems has been donating portable generators to the Habitat for Humanity location on Gate City Blvd. in Greensboro. Canter is an industry leader in reliable, automatic home standby generator system sales, installation, service, and maintenance throughout the southeast United States.

But the company had humble beginnings, when Glen W. Canter started an electrical contracting business, driving the back roads in his pickup truck, serving customers throughout central North Carolina. Seventy years later, the company has evolved to concentrate on automatic home backup power systems, and it leads its industry—but has never lost touch with its roots.

“My uncle brought electricity for the first time to people in the community back in the 40s,” said Kenneth Canter, owner and president of Canter Power Systems. “He could see how much difference it made in his customers’ lives just to be able to light their kitchen.”

Canter has been making the donations weekly for three years, and has no plans to stop. The donated generators help support Habitat for Humanity’s mission to help people build and own their own homes. “We’re grateful for our success,” said Canter. “We believe it is our duty to give something back.”
